Fort Duffield Park and Historic Site

Built in 1861. Gen. William Tecumseh Serman ordered the construction of a fortification at West Point, Kentucky to protect supplies and troops and keep control of the Salt and Ohio Rivers at this point, as well as area roads, for the Union.
Kentucky's Largest and Best Preserved Earthen Fortification.
On the National Register of Historic Places, Kentucky Landmarks and the American Battlefield Trust Heritage Sites.

Hours: Daylight to Dark, seven days a week. No cost except during special events.

Directions: Via U.S. 31W, 7.5 miles S. of the Gene Snyder Freeway (Hwy. 841) and 9 Miles North of the Main
Entrance to Fort Knox, Kentucky. Turn East on Salt River Drive, then 1st right turn onto Fort Duffield Road
(formerly Honeysuckle Lane). Follow road across RR tracks and follow road around to the parking lot.
